PSAA is committed to delivering the continuous improvement of audit quality. This priority has featured strongly in our work to date for example in relation to the audit services procurement. However, we also want it to be a major feature of our work going forward. For that reason we have established a new Local Audit Quality Forum (LAQF).
We want to create a meeting place in which all of the parties which share a responsibility for audit quality can share experiences and good practice. In particular we want to give a special focus to the work of local bodies and their audit committees to help them play their critical and demanding roles effectively. We hope that audit committee chairs and chief finance officers will be regular attendees and active participants in LAQF events.
Local bodies which have opted into PSAA’s national scheme will be entitled to attend LAQF events free of charge (up to two delegates per body). Other bodies will be charged £200 plus VAT per person. In allocating places priority will be given to delegates representing opted-in bodies.
We hope that audit committee chairs and chief finance officers will welcome this initiative.
We formally launched the LAQF at an inaugural one-day event in London on 18 April 2018. Presentations from the event are available to download: LAQF presentation slides – 18-4-2019 (London)
